MONICA was picked up from a municipal sterilisation centre before she was released back to the streets. In a few cities of Ukraine, there is a council program to pick up stray animals, sterilise and vaccinate them, and try to find their old or new owners.
If no one calls within three-four weeks, the animals are released back where they were found. MONICA was found at an intercity bus station, clearly a home pet, abandoned there. It’s a very dangerous place for a dog, with traffic and dog haters, and stray dogs are often poisoned there. So, the rescue took her under their care.

MONICA is housetrained and perfect on a lead. She is an affectionate sweetheart, currently in foster care with other dogs of different sizes and is brilliant with them. She hasn’t been tested with cats. MONICA has an absolutely adorable nature, very calm and well balanced. She loves to be near humans, enjoys hugs and kisses, and sitting on laps, but is not intrusive.
She is friendly with everyone and, unlike most dachshunds, is neither nosy nor barky. MONICA gets along very well with all dogs and puppies, respecting those who do not wish to be bothered and not insisting on playing. She is a dog suitable for beginners and is absolutely problem-free at home.
