Penny – 1-2 year old female Dachshund Cross

Penny is a 1-2 year old female Dachshund Cross. We have Penny here who has had a couple of fights with the companion dog, where she came off worse and it’s been decided to re home her. She is awaiting a fosterer home. She originally came from Europe where she was a street dog for the first nine months. On coming to England she was at first going well.A strange habit she has now dropped, was digging roots of trees and eating them. This habit speaks for itself.

This little Dachshund Cross was resilient and determined to survive. After some months, a rescue companion dog was introduced as it was felt she would benefit. But this did not work out. The family found she resented this intrusion into her now, pleasant life. Her behaviour towards outside dogs began to change and she barked at every other dog.

Penny is an otherwise loving and attention seeking dog. Unfortunately she began also to snap at the children. Although she loves them, particularly the youngest who was very sad to think she would have to go.

We are seeking a temporary foster home. She needs a quiet home where she can de-stress and de-brief. Where she can be treated as a dog, given boundaries and training. Her resilience and determination to survive actually brought her into conflict with the comfortable life which she found in England. She needed to preserve her new life and in so doing, found it hard to share the love around.

If Penny’s story means something to you and you feel you can help her, please contact us.
